Welcome

Welcome to the Heating Energy Assistance Team (H.E.A.T.), Inc. We are a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization that has been assisting Georgians with their home energy needs since 1983. Our mission is to prevent human suffering by providing energy assistance for Georgians in need.

H.E.A.T. is the oldest statewide fuel fund program in Georgia. We help low-income households meet their energy needs through partnerships with concerned citizens, energy companies, state government, community action agencies, corporations, and other organizations.

        News

  • Fundraising efforts are in full swing across Georgia to help ensure that families in need stay warm this winter. Various cities and natural gas companies are including information in utility bills as to how you can help. Realizing that the need is great, most companies have made corporate contributions as well. Please help your neighbors by making a donation to H.E.A.T. today. To contribute, visit our Donate Now page.

  • H.E.A.T. funds are distributed by the Georgia Department of Human Services through local community action agencies. Families who meet the eligibility criteria may apply for assistance at the agency that serves their county. Call your local community action agency to find out where to go to place an application and what documentation you would need to bring.

  • H.E.A.T. celebrated 25 years of providing energy assistance to Georgians statewide. Originally established by Atlanta Gas Light Company in 1983, H.E.A.T. has helped address the energy needs of low-income Georgians by joining forces with concerned citizens, businesses and state government. When the Georgia General Assembly deregulated the state's natural gas industry, H.E.A.T. became a separate 501 (c) (3) nonprofit tax-exempt entity in May 2000.

  • We welcome our newest supporters - the city of Perry and the Fort Valley Utilities Commission. They join other corporate and government supporters in helping Georgians meet their energy needs through H.E.A.T. more>>
